PauseBox Privacy Policy

PauseBox (“we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

PauseBox operates two distinct experiences with different data practices: (1) our webstore at getpausebox.com, where customers browse and purchase products, and (2) the PauseBox mobile app and related hardware. The sections below describe each separately. Please read the section that applies to you.

Part A — Webstore (getpausebox.com)

This section applies to your use of our webstore and any related marketing communications.

A1. Information We Collect on the Webstore

       Order Information: When you place an order, we collect your name, shipping address, billing address, email address, and phone number (if provided) so that we can process, fulfill, and ship your order.

       Payment Information: Payments are processed by a third-party payment processor (for example, Shopify Payments or Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on our systems. We may receive limited transaction details such as the last four digits of your card, card brand, billing ZIP, and authorization status.

       Email Signups / Newsletter: If you sign up for our newsletter or opt in during checkout, we collect your email address to send product updates, promotions, and related communications. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email.

       Customer Support Communications: If you contact us, we collect the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message) so we can respond.

A2. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The webstore uses cookies and similar technologies. The categories we use generally include:

       Strictly Necessary Cookies: Required for core webstore functionality such as your shopping cart, secure checkout, and session management. The site will not work properly without these.

       Analytics Cookies: Used to understand how visitors interact with the webstore so we can improve performance and the shopping experience. These are typically set by our e-commerce platform and standard analytics tools.

We may add additional cookie categories (such as marketing or advertising cookies) in the future. If we do, this policy will be updated and, where required by law, we will request your consent before those cookies are set.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may prevent the webstore from functioning correctly.

A3. How We Use Webstore Information

We use information collected through the webstore to:

       Process, fulfill, and ship your orders, including communicating with you about your order status.

       Handle returns, defect claims, and customer support requests.

       Send marketing emails to subscribers (you can unsubscribe at any time).

       Operate, secure, and improve the webstore.

       Comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

A4. Sharing of Webstore Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share webstore information only with service providers who help us run the business, including:

       Our e-commerce platform and hosting provider.

       Our payment processor.

       Shipping carriers (such as USPS) to deliver your order.

       Our email/newsletter provider, if you have opted in.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

Part B — PauseBox App and Hardware

This section applies to your use of the PauseBox mobile app and related hardware.

B1. Offline by Design

The PauseBox app is designed to function entirely offline. It does not transmit or store your app data in the cloud, and we do not use analytics tools or trackers inside the app.

B2. Information We Collect in the App

       Personal Information: Only if you voluntarily contact us for support (e.g., your name or email address).

       Device Information (Local Only): Basic diagnostic information may be generated locally on your device to enable app functionality or improve reliability. This information stays on your device and is never transmitted, uploaded, or otherwise shared with PauseBox or any third party.

       App Usage (Local Only): Information about how often you use features of the app is stored on your device only and is not shared with us or third parties.

We do not track you, sell your data, or use analytics tools inside the app. No information generated by the app is transmitted back to PauseBox.

B3. How We Use App Information

Any information you voluntarily provide (for example, in a support email) is used solely to:

       Respond to support inquiries.

       Improve functionality and reliability.

B4. Sharing of App Information

We do not share, sell, rent, or transfer personal data collected through the app to any third parties. No app data is uploaded to any server or external service by us.

Shared Provisions (Apply to Both Webstore and App)

S1. Data Retention

We retain order and customer-support records for as long as needed to fulfill the purpose for which they were collected and to comply with applicable tax, accounting, and legal obligations. Newsletter subscriber data is retained until you unsubscribe. App data that lives on your device is retained until you delete it from your device.

S2. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

       Access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you.

       Opt out of marketing communications at any time.

       Ask us to stop contacting you.

To make a request, contact: support@getpausebox.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law.

S3. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. The PauseBox app does not rely on cloud infrastructure for user data, and webstore payments are handled by PCI-compliant third-party processors. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

S4. Children’s Privacy

Our webstore and products are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

S5. Changes to This Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy in the future. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “Last Updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.

Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the PauseBox mobile app and related hardware. By using the app or device, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using PauseBox, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or hardware.

2. License

PauseBox software is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. You may use, modify, and distribute the software in accordance with the terms of that license.

3. Trademarks and Branding

The name “PauseBox” and related branding are trademarks of PauseBox. You may not use these marks without permission, except as permitted for attribution under open-source licenses.

4. No Cloud or Remote Data Use

The PauseBox app does not upload or sync any user data to the cloud. All data is stored and processed locally on the user’s device.

5. Warranty Disclaimer

The PauseBox app and hardware are provided “AS IS,” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We make no guarantees that the app will always be free from bugs or interruptions.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PauseBox is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the app or device.

7. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the app at any time for violations of these Terms. You may also discontinue use at any time.

8. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after such updates constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict of law principles.

10. Shipping, Handling, and International Shipments

Order Processing & Shipping

       Handling Time: All orders are processed and shipped within 2 business days.

       Carrier Responsibility: Shipping estimates begin once the package is in the possession of USPS. PauseBox is not liable for delivery delays caused by the carrier, weather, or other external factors. Consequently, refunds will not be issued for delays occurring after the package has departed our facility.

Address Accuracy

Customers are solely responsible for providing accurate, complete, and current shipping addresses at the time of order. PauseBox LLC is not responsible or liable for orders that are lost, delayed, misdelivered, undeliverable, or returned to sender due to address errors, typos, incomplete information, or any inaccuracies in the address provided by the customer.

If a package is returned to PauseBox LLC because of an incorrect or undeliverable address supplied by the customer, the customer may choose one of the following options:

       Re-ship: Pay for new shipping to have the order re-sent to a corrected address; or

       Cancel and Refund: Cancel the order and receive a refund for the total amount paid, less the original shipping costs.

Any additional shipping fees incurred as a result of an address error are the responsibility of the customer.

International Orders & Customs

       Importer of Record: The recipient is responsible for ensuring the shipment complies with all local laws and regulations.

       Duties & Taxes: International orders may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and fees (such as VAT) levied by the destination country. These charges are the sole responsibility of the customer. PauseBox cannot predict or control these costs.

11. Returns and Defective Products

All sales are final. PauseBox does not accept returns or exchanges except in the case of defective products.

We stand behind our hardware. To be eligible for a defect-based return, you must contact us within 30 days of the date the USPS tracking number indicates the package was “received.” Please contact support@getpausebox.com to initiate a defect claim. Returns requested for any reason other than a verified product defect will not be accepted.
